Part 2
It is the purpose of this blog to stimulate thought in believers in Christ toward thinking critically about their faith. I do not believe that believing in Jesus means we must have "blind faith," I believe that we can have confident assurance and reason to believe in a God who will do what He says He will do! Will you believe that with me?

I think whoever was offended considered "we're all messed up" to mean that you considered homosexuality abbhorrent, or at least messed up. Questioning someones sexuality can cause a lot of hurt, whether or not it's voiced so softly. Just try to feel how they would. Just wanted to let you know I listened to what you had to say. I still disagree, but it's nice to hear you making your point in such a respectful manner. Props for that Richard. - Josh
ReplyDeleteRichard,
ReplyDeleteI thought your post was very well thought out with solid backing. I know it has been awhile since we have talked, but I have enjoyed hearing your thoughts concerning this matter. Though I understand the confusion with the phrase "we're all messed up," a second issue would come to my mind if I heard this and it would be in the form of a question, what do you mean by that? Now I understand what you meant, but it's the fact that I asked the question first before moving to hurt feelings or retaliation. The answer you would hear from the question posed would then lead to further discussion on the issue and quite possibly an understanding. What startles me more in this case, however, is the simple fact that society has given a stronger sense of sin or "badness" to the things they want to have more weight. For instance, would we give the same reaction to someone who lied as a sin to come into Church? Probably not. Lying is something we have all done, the fact of the matter is that we, as followers of Christ, need to remove the falsities of weighted sin and work together in our struggles. Anyways, I thought you did a great job Richard and I pray that God would continue to guide you!
